Fernando Alonso says that Ferrari will fight right to the end – Formula 1 news
Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso, who is running for the championship against Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel this season, has stated that the team will fight right to the end of the final race this weekend.
“There are 71 laps to go that will decide the final outcome: the efforts of several months will all come down to a very short space of time,” said Alonso. “Then what will happen will happen and the important thing is that we do everything perfectly: then
only luck can be out of our hands. We know that a place on the podium alone could be enough. I have confidence in myself and in the team and we will fight right to the end.”
The driver admits that their car is not as competitive as Red Bull’s but in the end it all comes down to the team and he believes that Ferrari is definitely stronger. He has pointed out that the team is introducing a few updates but then other teams are
doing the same so it will not make much difference. He has also denied to the fact that their win will be a revenge for the 2010 F1 season when Vettel had beaten him for his first drivers’ championship, but rather it will be a source of celebration and happiness
for the team.
Regarding his team, Alonso stated that Ferrari is a special team where all the members work hard and put in 100 percent effort. He said that the team is also important in terms of being the manufacturer of its own car parts even if they are small.
Vettel has once again widened his lead to thirteen points after the United States GP. It is necessary for Alonso to finish fourth or higher given that Vettel does not win or is retired from the race.
The Red Bull driver had earlier stated that he does not underestimate his rival while Alonso has been confident about winning throughout the fight. Ferrari had previously been dealing with unexpected results of their updates and Red Bull has also been worried
about reliability issues of late.
