Fernando Alonso says there will be no problems if Lewis Hamilton joins Ferrari – Formula 1 news
Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso has said that he is happy with his teammate Felipe Massa, but if the McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton ever moves to Ferrari in future, there will be no problems.
Recently, there were reports that the Maranello-based outfit principal Stefano Domenicali is looking for Hamilton for Ferrari for the 2012 Formula 1 season, as he believed the pair of Hamilton and Alonso will be more suitable for them as compared to their
current drivers’ line-up.
However, the Spaniard stated that there will be no problems if the Brit ever chooses Ferrari for his future in Formula 1.
Both of the drivers Hamilton and Alonso were teammates in 2007 when they drove for McLaren. However, the 30-year-old driver mentioned that it would be a much cleaner and real fight between him and Hamilton outside McLaren.
Talking to reporters, Alonso said, “I am very happy with Felipe and I hope to be with him for many years. But if another driver comes there will be no problem, we would work the same way for the team. And if Hamilton comes, (it will be) the same.”
Apart from that, the Ferrari driver discussed that they must try to win more races in the remainder of the 2011 Formula 1 season. In addition, he said that they have been realistic in terms of performance during the races in the season so far.
Alonso went on to say, “We can't ever say we will tackle eight races without having the championship in the back of our mind. Of course we must start winning and we have to hope that Vettel makes a few mistakes or has some problems.”
The team driver has won only one race in the ongoing season so far. After winning the 2011 British Grand Prix following his disappointing start to the 2011 Formula 1 season, he is looking forward to win more races in order to challenge this year’s championship.
Alonso is at the fourth place with 145 points behind Hamilton in the drivers’ championship at the moment.
Let’s see how both of the Ferrari drivers perform on the grid after coming back from the August break.
