Fernando Alonso sees a new era of experiment and exploitation in F1
Fernando Alonso sees a very thrilling and entertaining season ahead for Formula One. He believes that the 2011 season is going to bring a lot more action on the track as the new FIA rules will allow a lot more overtaking than the recent years making the
sport far more competitive and awe-inspiring for its fans.
Undoubtedly, everyone believes that the 2010 season has been the most nerve tickling one in Formula One’s history, yet Alonso is of the view that the next one is going to unfold even more drama on the track. Until the very last race of this season the tug
for the title continued with the same passion and determination among the top four drivers of the season. At one after the other race, all through the year, the sport saw a lot of unexpected things taking place, turning and twisting the championship completely.
However, the Ferrari driver said this Sunday that the new changes made in the FIA rules for next season is going to bring much more exhilarating rounds next year. Even though 60 years have already past yet every year comes up with a new set of lessons for
the sport as the management says that it is still in the process of evolution and will continue to improve forever. Like always, before heading to the next season, the team has come up with several changes including the introduction of a movable front wing
and the return of Kinetic Energy Recovery Systems (KERS).
Although not all these changes over the years have proved to be beneficial for the sport, yet Alonso believes that the upcoming ones will bring a renewed energy to Formula One. While talking to the media the Spanish driver stated, “Obviously every year normally
Formula 1 changes rules to make it more spectacular, to have more overtaking manoeuvres and to have a better show. It's true that in 2011 there are two big changes to the regulations, which is the KERS and the rear wing that we can move when we have an overtaking
possibility. I think these two combined give us a speed advantage that is quite big compared to the car in front.”
Above all, what excites the drivers the most is the fact that the new rules will provide a lot more overtaking opportunities. This means a race can change dramatically anytime bringing more thrill and exhilaration to each of the events.  Alonso further thinks
that the new moveable wing, next season, will become the key to the title decision, as all the teams will try to come up with a better design than its competitors. He believes that the current years have shown a new era to the sport where experiment and exploitation
have reached the apex.
The two times world champion, Alonso lost the third title of his career this season only at the last round, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Although he entered the sport being at the top of the charts but a poor race strategy of the team made him end at seventh
place, handing the championship to the Re Bull driver, Sebastian Vettel.
However, Alonso is confident for his team Ferrari. He explained saying, "When you drive for Ferrari there is only one goal, which is fighting for the world championship. It's what people expect from Ferrari. I think there will be tough competition - Red
Bull, Mercedes and McLaren will be very competitive, so we need to work very hard - better than the others - if we want to win, and that's what we're doing now. It's a very intense period of the year for us, the whole team at Maranello is working 24 hours
a day to build a new Ferrari better than this one, and I think we will."
