Fernando Alonso stays unmoved after the Controversy last weekend
At a time when all the Ferrari fans, the team itself, the race steward, organizers and practically everyone is angry and disturbed for what happened in the German Grand Prix at Hockenheim last weekend, Ferrari’s driver, Fernando Alonso is cool, calm and happy. He says that he is just thinking about his upcoming race.
The unmoved driver says that he is only focusing on having another top finish this weekend as the Formula One caravan moves to its next destination in Budapest, Hungary.
While all the others are talking about the fine imposed on the team the Spaniard is only concentrating on the fact that the circuit is going to suit Ferrari’s F10 brilliantly. He is paying all attention on the fact that if he will be able to end the race at first place for the third time in the season he will be once again back in the battle for the title of the season.
In response to all the criticism, all he had to say was, "All wins are special."
He furthermore added that, "Winning is a great feeling and that was the case in Hockenheim, especially when I think of the huge workload undertaken by everyone at Maranello to achieve this fantastic one-two finish. No one ever gave up and I know how pleased they were to see two Ferraris cross the line ahead of all our rivals. For over a month now we have been saying that we had to get back to winning at least once before the summer break and finally, we did it.”
He resolutely told that all the controversies surrounding his victory are not going to change his approach for the rest of the races. He added that the team now knows well from the past race that they have one of the most competitive cars of the season as well as both the drivers have great form and are confident.
Even though the team is entering in the next race after a very disappointing weekend in Hockenheim and carrying memories of the worst accident their driver, Felipe Massa, faced in Budapest last year, the team still seems hopeful for bagging another victory.
In Germany the team faced severe criticism as the team’s driver Massa slowed down after receiving a message on radio from its team telling that his teammate was faster, owing to which Alonso was able to win the race.
The act had been severely criticized as it breaches the rules of the sport which forbids ordering in the team. Following the team’s finish they were fined $100,000.
Despite all the ill and odds that the team went through last weekend Alonso says that all this does not mean that the team has lost hope or the fighting spirit rather the result is very motivational for them as they had lately wished to have a 1–2 finish.
Currently the team stands at third place behind McLaren and Red Bull. After the initial twelve races of the season they have been able to bag two hundred and eight points so far.
After their second one-two finish this season the two drivers Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa stand at fifth and eighth positions respectively. The former had been able to bag a total of one hundred and twenty three points so far whereas the latter has eighty five points under his belt.
As the team heads to the next race they hope to see another one or probably two podium finishes which they think is necessary at this moment to come back as a strong contenders of the Drivers’ as well as the Constructors’ Championship.
