Fernando Alonso still seeking for another win in last three rounds of 2011 season – Formula 1 news
Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso is still seeking for another win in the last three rounds of the 2011 Formula 1 season despite his fifth position in 2011 Korean Grand Prix.
Alonso talked to the media and said that he still wants to win at least one race in the rest of the ongoing season despite his disappointing results in the Korean race weekend.
The Spaniard added that overall the race was interesting at the Korea International Circuit on Sunday, October 16.
The team driver did not have a good start to the 2011 Korean race weekend, as he was unable to perform on the grid in a decent manner in all of the Practice sessions.
After the Practice sessions, he managed to secure his sixth position for Sunday’s race in the qualifying round 3 after running on the sets of supersoft and soft tyres by Pirelli.
The Maranello-based outfit driver started his Grand Prix from the sixth place at the Korean racetrack and struggled a lot to match his pace with the top three drivers from the initial stages.
Alonso discussed the Korean race and commented, “On top of that, being in traffic all the time compromised still further the tyre performance, because there was less aerodynamic downforce.”
The 30-year-old driver went on to mention, “When we switched to the softs, the situation improved significantly and, with a clear track, I was able to push as hard as I could, but by then it was difficult to reach the small group that was fighting for the
podium: hence what I said on the radio, having given my all for twenty laps, but there was no way I could do more with just two laps to go.”
After battling it out with their rivals, including McLaren drivers and Red Bull Racing driver Mark Webber, he came on the fifth position ahead of his teammate Felipe Massa in the final race classifications.
On the other hand, Massa finished his race at the sixth position at the Korean Grand Prix. He was disappointed with his race results, as he was expecting better results following his positive qualifying round at the Korean racetrack.
Let’s see whether Alonso wins race in the last three rounds of the ongoing season or not.
