Fernando Alonso to feature at Mugello test for Ferrari – Formula 1 news
Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso will test F2012 during two of the three days of the in-season test which is to be held at Mugello next week.
The Spaniard will test run the car on Tuesday and Thursday while his teammate, Felipe Massa will be behind the wheel on Wednesday in Mugello.
The Mugello test is very crucial for the all the contenders as they intend to evaluate the updates which they have made in their cars in order to make the necessary preparations for the season ahead.
Similarly, the Scarlet team has also been looking forward for the test eagerly so as to make the essential assessment of their upgrades for the upcoming European season.
Ferrari is currently standing at fifth position in the constructors’ championship with 45 points which shows quite convincing performance from the team as compared to its stance after this year’s pre-season tests that they would struggle during the first
few races of the season.
Nevertheless, Stefano Domenicali, the team principal of Ferrari said that they still have plenty of work to do so as to improve their car’s pace by making the significant developments and necessary preparations for the approaching races.
In addition, he said that even though they are trying their best to make advancements in each and every area, however, he said that they will not be able to test all the parts at the test in Mugello as they will not be ready because of the time constraint.
“The coming days will be very important, during which the primary objective will be to push as hard as possible on the development of the car: next week we have three days of testing at Mugello, but it's not definite that all the updates planned for Barcelona
will be seen then. We must try and make the most of every minute available to us to increase the performance of the F2012,” said Domenicali.
Besides, he also said, “We are intensifying the process of changing our working procedures in all areas and, at the same time, we are strengthening our efforts in areas where we are weakest, such as aerodynamics.”
