Fernando Alonso tops the timesheets in dry FP3 of 2012 Belgian Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso has topped the timesheets in the dry third free practice session of the 2012 Belgian Grand Prix held at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps.
Alonso set the quickest time of 1 minute and 48.542 seconds in FP3 and remained busy in collecting the essential information about the update package of F2012 so as to make the necessary evaluations.
The current leader in the drivers’ championship was followed by Kimi Raikkonen of Lotus who was further followed by Sergio Perez of Sauber.
The Mexican driver stayed ahead of his teammate, Kamui Kobayashi who was further followed by McLaren driver, Jenson Button. Moreover, the British driver felt very comfortable behind the wheel of his car as compared to the first two practice sessions and
was followed by Felipe Massa of Ferrari.
Red Bull Racing driver, Mark Webber came 7th in the timesheets and remained ahead of Romain Grosjean of Lotus.
The French driver stayed ahead of the defending champion, Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull who was followed by Paul di Resta of Force India.
Pastor Maldonado of Williams came 11th in the charts and remained ahead of Lewis Hamilton of McLaren who was further followed by Michael Schumacher of Mercedes.
The record championship holder was followed by Nico Hulkenberg of Force India who came 14th in the timesheets.
Toro Rosso pair of drivers, Jean-Eric Vergne and Daniel Ricciardo came 15th and 16th in the charts and remained ahead of Bruno Senna of Williams.
The Brazilian driver was followed by Heikki Kovalainen of Caterham who stayed ahead of Marussia drivers, Charles Pic and Timo Glock. Besides, Glock remained ahead of Kovalainen’s teammate, Vitaly Petrov.
HRT drivers, Pedro de la Rosa stood at 22nd and 23rd positions in the timesheets while Nico Rosberg of Mercedes came last as he faced difficulties with his car.
Over and above, the last practice session was quite helpful for all the contenders because they successfully gathered the required data about their upgrades as compared the first two sessions which were strongly hit by rain.
Now all the teams are preparing for the qualifying and are eying to secure competitive grid slots for the race ahead.
