Fernando Alonso wants a rematch with Sebastian Vettel – Formula 1
Fernando Alonso of Ferrari, who unluckily handed the championship to Sebastian Vettel in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, has stated that he wants a rematch with the reigning champion Red Bull and Vettel. Alonso added that he wants to keep on winning titles every
year. Talking about the new rules, he said that despite having new and innovative rules for this season, it will be a Red Bull, McLaren, Mercedes and Ferrari season.
Fernando Alonso was inches away from winning the 2010 title when he only needed a fourth place finish in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix to beat Vettel. He eventually finished in seventh spot after Ferrari team messed up in the pits, wasting precious time. Talking
about the incident, Alonso said that it took him three to four days to realise what had happened. He said, “But then we had to do the testing of the tyres and I was forced to go back to reality.”Sebastian Vettel also said that Alonso took a long time to congratulate
him on winning the title. Now, as Alonso said that, “In 2011 I want a rematch of last year,” it opens a new chapter in their rivalry.
After what Alonso went through last season, his total concentration is on winning the titles and he said, “I want the world title to be mine at the end of the year, and also in 2012, 2013 and every subsequent year. There is no other goal.”
Talking about the new regulations that Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) have imposed on the sport, he said that the rules will be the same for everyone but the cars will be different, which matters the most. He said that familiar faces will
finish on the podiums for almost the entire season. Alonso also said that although the races will be more spectacular because there will be many more pit stops, yet the toppers and the midfielders will remain the same.
Ferrari have the most reliable car and they are also the leaders in terms of mileage. With ambitions like Alonso have, it will be interesting to see how 2011 season starts.
