Fernando Alonso warns Sebastian Vettel of bad luck – Formula 1 news
Fernando Alonso has claimed that championship leader Sebastian Vettel will not enjoy good luck throughout the year and things will change for him at some point in the 2013 Formula 1 season.
The Ferrari driver stated, “Unlucky races will come to everyone and will come to him as well. It came to Kimi [Raikkonen] in Monaco with the accident and we are only five points behind him. It will come to Sebastian and we need to maximise.”
All of the teams have gathered in Canada for the seventh race of the season and this was the same place where Alonso encountered bad luck in 2012. He was leading the championship until that point last year, but failed to score even a single point due to
a first lap accident, which allowed his rivals to take advantage.
This year, Ferrari have already suffered a lot because of bad luck, so Alonso is not really enjoying the situation at the moment.
The Spaniard added, “The team has been very unlucky with the situations we have faced this year. We saw many people touch in the first corner, last time it was Barcelona where Hamilton and Vettel touched at Turn 1 and nothing happened. But I touched [the
back of Vettel's car] in Malaysia and we were out of the race, which was very unlucky.”
There is no doubt that the Italian squad has appeared to be quite competitive this year and they are in a position to fight for the championship. However, they will need some luck in order to continue finishing in points.
On the other hand, Red Bull will also be hoping to stay out of trouble even if they are not so competitive in any race. They will be hoping to score as many points as possible in every round, as consistency is the key this year.
None of the teams have got any major advantages over each other this season, which is why it is important to stay out of trouble in every race. Some of the drivers have tried to be too aggressive at times, which has cost them a chance of scoring some solid
points. However, the front runners cannot afford that and they will have to play cleverly.
