Fernando Alonso warns about lack of consistency – Formula 1 news
Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso has warned that lack of consistency in 2012 Formula 1 season so far can impair the credibility of the sport as there have been six different winners in the first six races.
Alonso said that the fans may find the unpredictability of the season interesting however there are huge chances that the reliability of the game may get affected as it seems that anyone can take victory in the races ahead.
“It's a fantastic season, it's so unpredictable,” he told CNN. “It's good for the audience, it's good for the sport to bring attention to the races. On the other hand we can lose credibility. We cannot lose that the best teams, the best drivers, the best
strategies win the races, because at the moment from the outside it seems that in every race anyone can win.”
He added, “We need to make clear that if you win a race, it's because you did something better. And I don't think at the moment that this is clear for everybody.”
The Spaniard is currently leading the drivers’ championship with 76 points and he is 3 points ahead of Red Bull Racing pair of drivers, Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber. Moreover, he has been deemed as one of the strongest drivers in this year’s championship.
Nonetheless, he said that they still need to keep on working hard in order to make the necessary developments and the essential preparations so as to improve the pace of their car to fight for the title.
Besides, he also showed support for his teammate, Felipe Massa who has been seen struggling in the season so far and said that the Brazilian driver is trying his best to improve his performance in the approaching races.
Over and above, he said that he is not sure whether they will win or lose however, they are positively looking forward to perform well in the forthcoming races in order to fight for the championship title.
It will be important to mention that Jenson Button of McLaren and Former F1 driver Niki Lauda have also expressed their concerns regarding the inconsistency of the season until now and said that if it continues, the spectators may start finding it strange.
