Fernando Alonso will fight back for title in 2013 – Formula 1
Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso has been recently voted as the best driver of 2012 by majority of the team bosses in a poll conducted by Autosport as he performed flawlessly even with an incompetent car throughout the year.
The Italian squad had a very disappointing pre-season testing programme this year as they failed to construct a competitive car.
In addition, Ferrari technical director, Pat Fry dismissed the chances of a podium finish in the first race of the season and expected to face issues in the opening few grands prix. However, Alonso didn’t panic and performed incredible well right from the
start of the season and scored points with commendable consistency.
Even though, he fought very well until the very end of the season, but unfortunately lost the title to Red Bull Racing’s Sebastian Vettel who had the fastest car in the field and performed tremendously well during the last few races.
On the other hand, his teammate, Felipe Massa struggled a lot during the start of the season and was surrounded by many speculations that he might get replaced by any other driver in the coming year. Nonetheless, the team principal of Ferrari, Stefano Domenicali
showed full support towards the Brazilian and expressed that they are ready to help their struggling driver in any kind of conditions.
Eventually, Massa made a great come back after the Mugello test and performed terrifically well for his team. He also supported the Spaniard in a couple of races to attain good results and received a lot of appreciation from his fans.
Ferrari president, Luca di Montezemolo has said that although they are little bit upset over the result of this season as they lost the drivers’ title by a very small margin. Nonetheless, he said that they will try their best to provide their drivers competent
cars right from the beginning of the coming season in order to attain better results as compared to this year.
In contrast, Alonso said that they could have achieved more in this year’s championship, if they had a good start. He also said that it will be very difficult for him to carry on the same pace in the next season.
“You just have the feeling that some years you have done a good job and others when you feel there was something missing or something you wanted to change or want to improve for next year,” Alonso is quoted by Autosport. “I think it's been a perfect
year. It's going to be nearly impossible to repeat that in my career.”
Nevertheless, he said that he is not feeling upset over the result of this year and is hoping for a better start in the next season.
“A worst start would be impossible. We were some 2.5 seconds off the pace in the Jerez test when the car made its debut, so it's nearly impossible that it will be worse, and so I expect a better start,” he added.
The two-time world champion has been considered as one of the most talented drivers in the history of the sport. Moreover, his chances of winning the title in the 2013 Formula 1 season are indeed very bright. It will be very exciting to see how he performs
in the next season and whether he will be able to come up to the expectations of his fans or not.
