  1. I am picking Nadal in 4 sets. I don't think Gonzalez thinks he can win this match. Nadal has so much more enrgy and will be ready to pound gonzoin this match. Also, nadal has a backhand and gonzo doesn't.

  2. Actually Gonzalez did win a gold medal in Athens but in doubles.

I would be happy if either of them takes gold :)

  3. Nadal is the favourite, but this is the Olympics and his opponent is Gonzalez of Chile.  Many players are the type who bring their best tennis to the court when it involves playing for their country such as Davis Cup and the Olympics.  The Chileans, Massu and Gonzalez, are some of those people.  Gonzalez, you can see this by his results at the 2004 Athens Olympics, where he won gold in doubles with Massu (who won singles gold) and Gonzalez himself could have very well made it to the gold medal match and win gold back then as well.  Besides this, Gonzalez is simply known as one of the intense players (with a deadly game) and one of the grinders.  It's really not surprising that he has made it this far, and it wouldn't be as big of a shock if he were to defeat Nadal for the gold medal.  There are windows of opportunity for Gonzalez in this match.  However, it will be a tall task to get through Nadal and his game.  It will be high-level tennis with spectacular energy, rallies, drama and shots.

  4. Nadal....hello!!!!  Gonzo bad sportsman.....God will get him for what he did in the Blake match, and Nadal will be holding God's racquet.

  5. it could go either way i think.

gonzalez previously won the gold in athens i think,

but nadal is in better form at the moment.

i cant pick a winner, id be happy for either to win.

oh and nole for bronze :)

  6. I'm rootingfor Nadal and hopes he wins it , if Nadal played like his performance against Djokovic in the first and 3rd set then I can say that Rafa will be the winner

  7. Nadal is taking the gold!

  8. NADAL all the way being attributed by so many factors as:]

    1. being the new number 1.

    2. his tenacity and physical strenght

    3. never say die attitude.

    4. and more importantly - the desire to win and his

       mental strength

He will take the gold metal in 4 sets (6-4, 6-3, 5-7, 6-2)

VAMOR rafa - GO for GOLD!!!

  9. gonzalez didnt win gold in athens

    he won bronze

i m gonna say nadal in 3, just has the better game and in good form

  10. nadal all the way! he's the best tennis player in the world at the moment and the next great player to come along will have to be really special to replace nadal at the top. Vamous Rafa

  11. Rafa will take the GOLD! He's in super form and he's practically invincible.. There's no stopping him! It'll be a tough match though, since both players have an equal head-to-head record. But he'll take the match FOR SURE!

  12. The answer to this question is obviously karma. Gonzalez knew that ball hit his racquet. He looked James Blake in the eye and didn't say a word. No one with such dishonorable actions could ever win the gold, karma wouldn't have it.

I don't like Nadal much at all, I'm not sure why but I might even hate him because I love Federer so much and he's Roger's krytonite. But you can be sure I'll be screaming as loud as possible for Nadal to absolutely crush that snake Gonzalez.

    Go Nadal.

  13. I'm going to put my money on Nadal - just because he's in such a better shape then Gonzo and has the physical strengh AND mental strength. Oh. Plus, Nadal loves his country - this will give him the boost to win gold. I mean, wouldn't it be amazing if he could win the olympics on the eve of his coronation? But then, Gonzo is an inconsistent hardcourt specialist who has an AMAZING forehand, so never count him out. But still. Nadal. Just because :)

Oh yeah...forgot to mention, it would sound so much cooler "Federer and Nadal both have gold!"
