Fernando Sesto and Consuelo Monsegur of Argentina book 2012 Olympic Games spot
One of the six Women teams who finally qualified for the 2012 Olympic Games after showing great performance in the 2012 470 Regatta were Argentina’s Fernando Sesto and Consuelo Monsegur.
They sailed tremendously throughout the season and were in a good position in the recent 470 regatta which booked a place for them in the 2012 Olympics.
Currently the pair is on 11th podium place after sailing in eight races, which also includes a discarded race. The fourth day of the regatta brought challenging wind conditions but they were able to sail safely and move up in the standings.
Qualifying for the 2012 London Olympic Games is indeed a milestone that the team has achieved with their impressive sailing skills in the 2012 470 World Championships.
Speaking to the media, Sesto said that it is not easy to keep on training and focus on the events. However, the fourth day of the 2012 470 World Championship was the most difficult day of the Championship so far. It was not stable, shifty and very wavy.
She added that it was very difficult and they lost many places and then we go up many places. However, they are happy with their score-line of all top 10 until the last race.
