Fernando Torres and David Luiz have both officially penned down deals that have made them a part of the Chelsea squad. It was believed that the 11pm deadline, would be something that could potentially become an obstacle on-route to completing the signing
of the players, but in the end things played out according to Chelsea’s plans and they landed the duo.
Chelsea signed Torres for a fee of fifty million pounds, which smashed the all time transfer record for a player being exchanged between British clubs. Luiz also joined Chelsea from Benfica, in a deal set to be a twenty-five million pound one, with the addition
of a couple of million, depending on where the team finishes this season.
After signing his contract with Chelsea, Torres is reported to have said, "I am very happy with my transfer to Chelsea and I am looking forward very much to helping my new team-mates this season and for many years to come."
"Having played against Chelsea many times since coming to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749, and in some very big games I will never forget, I know there are many great players here and I will work hard to win a place in the team." added the former Liverpool striker.
"I hope I can score some important goals for the supporters to enjoy this season."
Luiz joined Chelsea from Benfica but as a result of that deal, Chelsea’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nemanja-Matic-c27531 will now move to the Portuguese club.
Luiz who is currently 23-years old, had a contract with Benfica till 2015. However, when Chelsea came knocking, the player didn’t think twice before signing the deal.
There were some hiccups in the Brazilian centre back's move to Stamford Bridge, as it was initially believed that Benfica had denied Chelsea the opportunity to land the player. However, when Chelsea made the 25-million pound bid for the player on the deadline
day, Benfica confirmed that he would be joining the team at Stamford Bridge.
Nonetheless, there was then the problem of getting the player into London on time to get his medical, before the transfer window closed. There was major confusion regarding just how the player's medical would be carried out, but in the end http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 sent some
of their staff over to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Portugal-c2984 to take a look at the player and he eventually, after much confusion, became a member of Chelsea.
There was almost the same amount of confusion regarding Fernando Torres’ move from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 to Chelsea. At first, Liverpool turned down Chelsea’s bids to land the player and then went on to turn down the player's transfer request as well. However on the
deadline day, Chelsea tabled a bid worth 50-million pounds for the player and with Andy Carroll making way to Anfield, the Spaniard was allowed to talk to Chelsea. Torres then took a chopper flight to London, to get in to the club, in time to go through his
medical and with just an hour left on the transfer day deadline clock, the player officially became a part of the Chelsea squad.
With the Blues now capturing two of the best players in the world at what they do, it is safe to say that they are going to become the team to watch out for. With the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/John-Terry-c18895 and now Torres and Luiz,
the team is starting to look more and more like the World IX.
