The Spanish striker who has had a torrid time at Chelsea in his first full season at the club has come out and made it clear that he is happy with the European Champions despite being relegated to the bench in the UEFA Champions
League final...
Chelsea’s 50 million pound acquisition from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 did not fare well for them in their recently concluded English Premier League campaign as well as their European Cup triumph. Torres failed to make a mark with Andre Villas
Boas and then with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-c31294 Di Matteo as well however the Spanish striker is still adamant at staying at the club and claims that he is happy.
Torres came out immediately after the UEFA Champions League final and admitted that he has been unhappy at Chelsea and frustrated with football at Stamford Bridge because he was promised a different role at Chelsea than what he
has been made to play so far.
With http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 won
the F.A Cup and the UEFA Champions League trophy but failed to do well in the Premier League where they finished sixth in the league table.
Torres said, "My goal was to talk to them at the end of the season. I needed to know what plans they had for me. We've talked and now I have no doubt what they expect of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707. I just want to start already next season.
Didier [Drogba] is a club legend and what he has decided is respectable."
He added, "I can only wish him the best and I feel proud to have shared so much with him. I want to play with the best and he is one of the best. I do not understand why it has to be one or the other and not both."
It is clear that Chelsea will definitely need to alter the way they play to accommodate Torres in their starting line up if they intend to use him as the focal point of their offensive moves like Drogba but such a change can only
be undertaken by Di Matteo, who is still stuck in limbo as Chelsea have not yet confirmed him as their permanent manager at Stamford Bridge.
