After winning three major trophies with both club and country, Torres is now looking forward to the upcoming season. He is certain the new season will prove to be much better for him and the club, as compared to the 2011-2012 season.
Under both Andre Villas-Boas and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-c31294 Di Matteo, Torres failed to make his mark on the team and was reduced to being a substitute. He made 49 appearances in all competitions last season and managed to score only 11 goals during that time.
Torres said while speaking to reporters:
“It was a complicated season for me. It doesn’t mean it was bad, far from it, but it was complicated with very difficult moments for me. But to see my family happy after the final, you see whatever happened during the season was worth it.”
However, things have changed since then for the Spain international. The Blues managed to recover from a poor season and went on to win both the FA Cup and the UEFA Champions League. Torres has topped off his success at Chelsea with a victory in the European Championships and the Golden Boot award.
The 28-year-old was certain http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 fans really happy. He revealed he was now hoping to return to goal scoring ways with his club as well.
He continued:
“I’m sure the Chelsea fans will also be happy. Now I have to rest and make sure I am ready for next season, which I’m sure will be full of great moments. At least, I have to think like that.”
The Spaniard set up Spain’s last goal for Chelsea team-mate Juan Mata, ensuring they won the final 4-0 and was full of praise for the 24-year-old attacking midfielder.
Torres revealed:
“He had been our best player at Chelsea last season, so to see him in the background with the national team . . . well, he deserved his moment of glory.”
