Misfiring Spaniard Fernando Torres has demanded more support from his Chelsea teammates so that he can start putting up imposing performances for the club. Torres believes that enhanced support from club representatives will help him gain confidence and
he will ultimately start firing for the Blues.
26-Year-old Torres, who joined the Blues from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 during January’s transfer window, has yet to open his goal scoring account for the club. Torres is confident to break his goal scoring duck in Chelsea’s upcoming clash with league leaders Manchester
United.
The record-breaking £50 million signing has been under immense pressure to deliver and justify the fees he is getting from the club. He has been heavily criticised by critics and even the likes of Alex Ferguson believe that he has been overpaid by Chelsea.
The striker has started to show glimpses of returning to his good form during Chelsea’s UEFA match against FC Copenhagen last week. Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti praised Torres for his performance against the Danish club. But Frenchman Anelka’s two mindboggling
goals made him the standout player for Chelsea that day.
Torres, who had partnered Anelka in the game against Copenhagen, said “The strikers we have depend on the rest of the team’s play. With two lines of four the other day, the team played really well and the balance was really good – compact. And they did well,
sometimes playing balls behind the centre-backs or sometimes between the lines, and Nico likes to play like this.”
The Spaniard blamed the 4-3-3 formation to be the main hurdle in his poor run of form. The Spaniard wants the Chelsea manager to make him play with another striker rather than going with the current formation.
Torres admits that he has to understand the game of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Didier-Drogba-c11044 to create better coordination and effective results upfront. Speaking to the club’s official website, he said, “It is my job to understand the game of Nico or the game of
Didier Drogba.”
Torres, who has been given preference over the Ivorian striker, Drogba, has failed to create effective partnerships with both Anelka and Drogba in recent matches. The trio was seen playing together in a match against Liverpool last month, but their combination
did not produce fruitful results and they lost the match to Kenny Dalglish’s side.
Now, Torres has another opportunity to prove his worth in the coming match against Sir Alex Ferguson’s team on Tuesday, which will decide the fate of the Spaniard, whether he can consistently feature for Chelsea or not.
Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti seems to be in no hurry to reveal whether Drogba or Torres, who he will induct upfront in the match against the Red Devils.
