Fernando Verdasco wants to win Davis Cup to end his dismal season on high note – Tennis News
Spanish Davis Cup is the last event that will be played this year between Spanish and Argentinean teams of four players apiece, from Dec 2-4. World No.24, Fernando Verdasco will accompany World No.5, David Ferrer, World No.2, Rafael
Nadal, and World No.20, Feliciano Lopez to the Davis Cup tie that will be contested in Madrid, Spain.
Verdasco hasn’t had the best of the years and he admits it himself; he wants to win Davis Cup ties and prove his worth once again. Spaniard turned 28 this year and this year’s last tournament is his last hope to finish his season
in good mood.
28-year-old, Verdasco, said “It's been a tough year with many irregularities. In the 1000 Masters earlier this year I played really bad, now, only be positive and think that next year does not defend anything and everything you
do will add up. Although for how bad gone is the year, I finished in 24th place. I hope that next year again I am to the same level of the previous two seasons and will be back in the 'Top Ten”.
Verdasco celebrated his birthday in grand fashion calling upon his friends that included one of the best athletes in the world of football, Mr. CR 7, Cristiano Ronaldo of Real Madrid. He added “It's my team, my friend and I think
that's the complete player in the world right now”.
Spaniard desperately need to perform his best in the Davis Cup and needs to end his dismal run of form and this season with flying colours. He is enjoying his holidays at the moment but will soon hit the tennis courts for the preparation
of Davis Cup.
It would definitely be one of the best endings for him if he manages to help his country to another commanding Davis Cup victory. He accepted the fact that his team was considered to be the favourite to win the contest but didn’t
underestimate the likes of Argentinean superstars including David Nalbandian, Juan Martin Del Potro, Juan Ignacio Chela and Juan Monaco. The soil is familiar, the court will be of clay and the crowd will be local but still it will not be an easy run for Spanish
team at all.
If he manages to win this year’s Davis Cup, it will definitely boost his morale and he will be all fired up to commence the next season at high note.
