Ferrari 2013 car passes FIA crash tests for 2013 – Formula 1 news
Ferrari have passed the mandatory FIA crash tests for the 2013 Formula 1 season, according to a Spanish newspaper, El Mundo Deportivo.
Sauber was the first team to pass the crash tests and made the announcement that they are looking forward to the first winter test which is to be held at Jerez circuit in Spain. Now, the Scarlet team along with Mercedes are ready for the winter testing also,
after passing the compulsory tests.
The Italian squad struggled a lot during this year’s pre-season testing programme. Furthermore, their technical director, Pat Fry completely discharged the possibility of a podium finish in the season opener and expected to face immense problems in the first
few races.
Nonetheless, their driver, Fernando Alonso performed inspiringly well even with an incompetent car and tremendously restricted the damage for his team.
Although, he scored points with admirable consistency and fought for the title right until the end of the season. However, he lost the championship to Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing by just 3 points who performed incredibly well in the last few races
with the most competent car in the field.
It will be important to mention that the president of Ferrari, Luca di Montezemolo has asserted that they must be more creative in their next year’s development programme in order to provide their drivers more competent car right from the start.
“Now is the time to look ahead to next year,” Montezemolo said. “I want us to start with a car that is immediately capable of fighting for the win and it has to be our first task. In order to achieve that, each one of us must improve in our own roles by
at least a millimeter.”
“We must revamp our organisation and our working methods to try and be at the same level as the best, right from the first race, which for too many years now we have failed to do,” he added.
It will be very exciting to see whether Ferrari will be able to develop a competitive car during the winter tests and how they compete with their main rivals in the next season.
