Ferrari admit woes while Stefano Domenicali hopes to motivate the team – Formula 1 news
Ferrari have admitted that they are not a happy camp after a series of technical difficulties with the new car has derailed their preparation for the upcoming 2012 season.
Team principal Stefano Domenicali along with Fernando Alonso came out and held a rally of the whole team in order to motivate everyone to take the game up a notch in order to make things better for the team.
The season opener Australian Grand Prix is getting closer while the complex F2012 still needs to be sorted out. It has been a thorny road for the team so far and radical changes are required in order to get the car ready for a competitive 2012.
“Speaking to team staff on Monday, Domenicali declared, “It’s obvious that we can’t be happy with how the test went considering our goals, but let’s not forget that the Championship has [yet] to start.”
“This is just the starting point and we have a very long season ahead of us. We know that there are some areas where we have to work a lot, regarding reliability and performance, but I’m expecting some great responses from you all and the wish to show who
we are,” said the team boss.
Ferrari are not the only team dealing with trouble, McLaren and Red Bull have had their woes as well and while McLaren look more complete Red Bull finds itself in a sort of dilemma as the team has decided to go with completely new parts for the season opener.
It will be a risky step and it might backfire.
Yet the season will begin with Red Bull and McLaren starting the season as clear favourites. While the Red Scarlet team will find itself luck to be considered underdogs. The team president Luca di Montezemolo was clearly upset and hopeful of Ferrari’s comeback.
He recently expressed that he hopes the team does not do as badly as has been predicted by their technical director Pat Fry.
It will be interesting to see after the season starts how well Ferrari develops their car to compete at the highest level. The knowledge of Lotus, Force India, Mercedes and Sauber showing good pace and reliability with their cars, it makes Ferrari’s camp
that much more nauseous.
