Ferrari aim to come stronger in qualifying of 2012 British GP – Formula 1 news
Ferrari technical director Pat Fry has said that they are targeting to come up stronger in the qualifying of 2012 British Grand Prix at Silverstone Circuit.
The Scarlet team found it very difficult to collect the necessary information for the assessment of the updated F2012 during the rain affected Friday practice. Nevertheless, Fry said that they are positively looking forward to perform well in the qualifying
of the race ahead in order to secure a competitive grid slot to achieve better results.
Furthermore, he said that their objective is to keep on improving the pace of the car with the considerable advancements and the substantial preparations throughout the season ahead to fight for this year’s championship title.
“We had a few updates, nothing revolutionary, to try but obviously, we could not do much in these conditions,” Fry said. “So we tried to do what we could, for example some practice starts, putting off until tomorrow task of preparing for qualifying and race.
We continue to push on development of F2012, because now that we have significantly reduced the gap to the best, compared to where we were at the start of the season, it becomes increasingly difficult to make progress: the pace and effectiveness of the updates
will be the key to the rest of the season.”
The Italian team is presently standing at fourth place in the constructors’ championship with 122 points. Besides, they are 30 points ahead of Mercedes and just 4 points behind Lotus.
Even though, they expected to face difficulties in the first few races. However, their driver Fernando Alonso has performed incredibly well in the season so far and has been successful in limiting the damage for his team.
The Spaniard is currently leading the drivers’ championship with 111 points and is 20 points ahead of Mark Webber of Red Bull Racing.
On the other hand, although his teammate, Felipe Massa has only scored 1 point in the last two grands prix, however, he is aiming to deliver his best in the approaching race. Let’s see how they perform in the qualifying of the next race.
