Ferrari aim to extract more from their updates – Formula 1 news
Ferrari team principal, Stefano Domenicali has said that they are looking forward to make the essential analysis about their updates at Maranello so as to extract more out of them in the last two rounds of the 2012 Formula 1 season.
Fernando Alonso of Ferrari faced a little bit difficulty during the qualifying of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix held at Yas Marina Circuit and could only secure 6th grid position. Nevertheless, he performed impressively well in the race and managed
to secure an inspiring second podium finish.
On the other hand, his main opponent, Sebastian Vettel secured an amazing third podium finish after taking a start from the pit lane and is still 10 points ahead of the Spaniard in the drivers’ championship.
The 31-year-old said that although they performed well in the last race and remained successful in attaining competitive result. However, he insisted that they need to take out more from their update package to compete with their rivals in the remaining
two races as the competition is very tough.
Nonetheless, Domenicali has said that they are aiming to make the necessary preparations in order to take the maximum advantage of their upgrades to secure a good position in this year’s championship fight.
In addition, he said that it is very important to understand the nature of Circuit of The Americas which is a new track in the calendar.
“This will be a week that is very important to understand in detail [the updates] and do the analysis of what we've done,” Domenicali said. “The other thing that is important is to understand the nature of the new track [in Austin] because no-one knows [what
it will be like]. Everyone has an indication from the simulator but because I prefer the track to the simulator - I really don't like the computer - I want to see the things on the track.”
“If it's not enough then we will see, but that's the approach we need to take,” he added.
Presently, the Italian team is standing at second place in the constructors’ championship and it will be thrilling to see how they perform in the last two grands prix of the current season.
