Ferrari aiming to win 2012 world championship – Formula 1 news
Formula 1 team Scuderia-Ferrari is aiming to win 2012 world championship despite their below par results in the 2011 Formula 1 season at the moment.
Team’s chief designer Nicholas Tombazis said that their objective is to win and that they are aiming to hit the ground running next year, but they are not taking anything for granted.
Tombazis added that Ferrari already aimed to arrive in Australia next year absolutely competitive. In addition, he mentioned that they cannot ignore their competitors in 2012 in any case.
He commented, “But it's not just Red Bull having interesting solutions: there are also slower cars with solutions worthy of consideration. You can't hide behind excuses. I think, however, that next year's car will have many different solutions, all ours.”
Apart from that, the Ferrari chief designer added that the team introduced some upgrades in the latter part of the 2011 Formula 1 season, but these updates did not work out properly during the races.
Tombazis went on to say, “We have understood what didn't work, but we haven't been able to fix it completely because, in September, solving the problem would have needed more time with effects only on the final three races, taking away too much time from
next year's car.”
He further added that the Maranello-based outfit is planning a more aggressive approach for their 2012 car, but he believes the new machine will not be another Red Bull-like package, despite the team’s dominance in terms of performance during the last two
seasons.
After completing 16 rounds of the ongoing season, the team Ferrari is placed at the third place with 310 points in the 2011 constructors’ championship.
Both of the drivers Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa tried their best to finish the season in a very decent manner throughout the 2011 F1 season so far.
After finishing the 2011 Korean race at the fifth position, Alonso is sitting at the third position with 212 points in the drivers’ championship, while the teammate Massa is placed at the sixth position with 98 points in the title fight at the moment.
Let’s see how both of the drivers Alonso and Massa perform in the upcoming round of the season, which is scheduled to be held on October 30 at the newly constructed Buddh International Circuit in India.
