Ferrari appoint Simone Resta as project head for 2013 car – Formula 1 news
Ferrari team principal, Stefano Domenicali has said that they have appointed Simone Resta as project head for the development of 2013 car.
Domenicali said that they are looking forward to split their car development for the next two years. Moreover, he said that they have been working hard to come up with some new methods of car development in order to improve its pace in the coming year.
In addition, he said that they have very efficient engineers in their squad who are trying their best at their factory in Maranello to make the necessary advancement in their next year’s car.
Besides, he said that they have two different co-ordinators for the construction of car for 2013 and 2014. He also said that Resta, who is one of the finest engineers in F1, will be the head of the project for the development of next year’s car.
“As regards the design, we have decided, particularly in light of the unusual demands we will face in 2013, when we will have a completely new project to work on for the future, to have two coordinators: Simone Resta, an engineer who has developed his career
in Maranello and is very effective, will work on the 2013 car,” Domenicali said.
It will be important to mention that the Scarlet team struggled a lot with the design of their car and their technical director, Pat Fry even ruled out the probability of a podium finish in the season opener. Furthermore, they also expected to face immense
difficulties during the first few races.
Although, their driver, Fernando Alonso performed impressively well throughout the year even with an incompetent car, however, he lost the championship by just 3 points to Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing who had the fastest car in the field during the
last few races.
Therefore, the Italian has insisted that they are aiming to start the next season with a competent car in order to win the world championship title.
“We are well aware that we must start off with more competitive car, as our President, Luca Di Montezemolo has demanded,” he added.
