Ferrari boss Stefano Domenicali confident of bouncing back – Formula 1 news
Ferrari boss Stefano Domenicali has claimed that his team will bounce back in the upcoming events despite a lacklustre showing in the Monaco GP, where both their drivers Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa encountered problems throughout the weekend.
The latter of the two drivers was unable to complete the race after a heavy crash, which resulted in minor injuries. Earlier, he had crashed in the same fashion during the final practice session, which cost him a chance of setting any lap time during the
qualifiers.
On the other hand, Alonso was unable to make a strong impression during the qualifying session and had to settle for sixth place on the grid. Adding insult to injury, he struggled with traction on race day and finished down in seventh, which would have been
disappointing for him, especially after winning the previous race in Spain.
Looking at the result, Domenicali said, “I said to our guys that, as we say in Italy, we were not 'in the stars' at the end of the weekend in Barcelona and we are not in the dust after Monte Carlo. We didn't have the pace and we have to understand why, but
we are used to reacting very quickly after a difficult weekend.”
Due to a bad showing in Monaco, Ferrari and Alonso have dropped behind in the championship, which might turn out to be crucial for them at the end of the year.
However, Domenicali believes, “The championship is very long and even if we are second in the constructors' championship. It will be a great challenge for everyone, a great championship, but we need to react and understand the reasons why we are not at the
level that we wanted here.”
At the moment, Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull is ahead of his rivals in the Drivers’ Championship, as he was able to score some solid points from the Monaco GP. Both his main rivals Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen were unable to make an impression in the recently
concluded round, which would have put them under immense pressure.
On the other hand, Red Bull are leading the Constructors’ Championship, as their drivers have been delivering consistent results since the start of the year.
