Ferrari boss Stefano Domenicali says technical staff reshuffle will take time to settle – Formula 1
Formula 1 Ferrari team boss Stefano Domenicali has stated that the restructuring in his technical staff will take some time to settle in as the process of car development is not a sprint, but a marathon.
Stefano also hinted that the restructure will probably take effect in the 2012 Formula 1 season because things will take time for the new people in the team.
Stefano’s comments come in light of Fernando Alonso’s words last week when he said that he needs a fast car as soon as possible, if the team wants him to win the drivers’ title, or get even close to that.
After finishing on podium in the Turkish Grand Prix and leading the race for a short time in the Spanish Grand Prix, the Spaniard thinks that Ferrari should improve their 2011 car.
However, Stefano thinks that developments will take time in the Ferrari team.
“When you want to speak about the future development of cars and the future of the organisation, this is a process that takes a very long time. You cannot think that something like that can have an effect in [just] two days time,” stated Stefano.
He added that the whole system changes after the departure of one strong figure in the technical department.
Stefano said, “But for sure we are looking around, as everyone is doing, to reinforce the different areas, because it is part of the continuous evolution that we need to make sure that this is happening.”
Ferrari recently did some restructuring after a poor start to the 2011 Formula 1 season from their point of view. Coming from last year’s nail biting contest with the Red Bull team, Ferrari have completely failed to pose any threat to the defending champions
so far.
Technical director Aldo Costa stepped down from his post and three new members joined the technical staff of the Ferrari team.
For now, the 2011 Formula 1 season continues in Monaco on May 29, 2011 and Ferrari will look to consolidate on their efforts and at least try to maintain the margin from the Red Bull team, if they cannot minimise it.
