Ferrari boss Stefano Domenicali says they are looking for 2011 success after Monaco GP – Formula 1
Ferrari boss Stefano Domenicali has said that he is looking forward to success in 2011 after a positive Monaco Grand Prix on Sunday, May 29, 2011.
He mentioned that if the team manages a good result in the next couple of races, their chances of winning the championship would increase.
Despite Fernando Alonso’s suggestion that Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel is getting out of reach in the world championship race after his fifth race victory of the season, the team boss still believes Ferrari can fight for the title.
Alonso made a very impressive run in the recently held Monaco Grand Prix, where he had a trouble-free session and finished the race on podium. After a positive finish in the Monte Carlo race, the Ferrari driver said that they need to win three more races
to come on level terms with Red Bull team.
Alonso said, “I think at the moment it's not possible, because to close the gap with plenty of races to go [could be possible], but if you are one second behind in every qualifying and you have to do some strange strategies, some starts or something always
out of the normal race, it's difficult.”
The Spaniard mentioned that Ferrari have to bring more improvements in their car for the next races, especially for Canada and Valencia. He admitted that there is still a huge difference between Ferrari and the defending team’s points, so they need to be
realistic and have to start fighting for the season’s victory.
Domenicali believes that Alonso will turn the title battle around in the next couple of races. He said, “For sure it is a big gap no doubt, but you know how quickly you turn around things. It is not easy no doubt, but if we have a good result in the next
couple of races then something may also happen to them, so if you stay concentrated and you put a little bit of pressure on, then we will see.”
Ferrari were also disappointed with Felipe Massa’s retirement from the race. However, they hope he will come back on the grid strongly in the upcoming race weekends.
