Ferrari breaks curfew for the second consecutive night before the Abu Dhabi GP – Formula 1 news
Team Ferrari broke the curfew rules implemented by the FIA for the second night in a row before the third practice session and qualifying on Saturday morning.
The team has been working hard on updating the car for their driver Fernando Alonso who is in the run for the championship this season as the Abu Dhabi race approaches this Sunday. The team has been determined to bring positive updates to the car so much
as to break the curfew rules for two consecutive nights.
The rules clearly state that all team members must be clear from the track between midnight and 6am if the practice is at 10am while the curfew remains from 1am to 7am if the practice is to take place at 11am. Every time is allowed an exception from these
rules four times a season and will be penalised otherwise. Ferrari team engineers were working on the updates from 5am to 11am but still have two more exceptions to go this season.
The sporting director for Ferrari, Massimo Rivola stated that the team was adamant on bringing out the best car for the coming race.
“I think there is still a long night for our engineers to set up the car properly,” he told the official Ferrari website. “Not everything was right because when you start doing some changes on the car and you test something new you need to spend more time
aero testing, rather than proper set-up. So we are confident on Saturday to close the gap and I am very confident for the race. Can we win? This is not what it seems today but there is reliability, which is an important factor and we will see.”
He added that the whole team has been following Alonso’s example in being determined and confident about winning the drivers’ title. He said that the team stands united with him and will continue to work hard.
Alonso had fell behind his title rival Sebastian Vettel after the Korean GP and since then the team has been under pressure. Vettel has refused to underestimate him and is expecting strong competition.
