Ferrari busy in 2014 engine testing in Maranello – Formula 1 news
Ferrari head of engine and electronics, Luca Marmorini has said that they are testing their 2014 V6 engine at the team’s factory in Maranello.
Mercedes motorsport director, Norbert Haug has recently said that he is expecting only three engine manufacturers in 2014 which include Mercedes, Ferrari and Renault. Moreover, it will be important to mention that the presence of Cosworth and PURE is still
unclear.
Meanwhile, Marmorini has said that they have already reached the advanced stage of testing their 1.6-litre V6 engine at Maranello. Furthermore, he said that the team members are going through very tough time as they have been working very hard to develop
the desired engine.
“It is a very challenging period for power train people,” Marmorini told the official Ferrari website. “We are working on the 2012 power train, and the rest of the season is very important. No-one's mentioned that we have to work on the 2013 engine; with
the new installation that's a big work. At the same time we have the V6 - the first prototype V6 - running on the dyno, and this is a very interesting project.”
In addition, he said that the rules and regulations of FIA for the 2014 Formula 1 season are very challenging. He also said that they earnestly need to push really hard to create the best understanding about the policies so as to come up stronger in the
future.
Besides, he praised the efforts of the team which has been trying its best to make the most out of the given circumstances while he admired the research and development work going on at the factory.
Additionally, he said that the new engine will work on novel turbo as it involves energy recovery system coming from the turbo compressor too.
Over and above, he expressed that they are eagerly looking forward to come up with the best engine for 2014 and are feeling very much positive about their performance in the future of the sport.
“We are really focused on this and we are looking forward to interpreting the rules in the right way,” he added.
