Ferrari chief designer, Nikolas Tombazis has said that he is feeling pleased with the progress which the team has made to develop F2012 in 2012 Formula 1 season so far.
The Scarlet team struggled with the design of their car throughout the pre-season testing programme this year. Moreover, it will be important to mention that the technical director of Ferrari, Pat Fry even ruled out the possibility of a podium finish in
the season opener. Besides, they expected to face difficulties in the first few races of the season.
Nevertheless, Tombazis said that they have managed to perform quite convincingly as they been striving at their best to make the necessary developments and the substantial preparations so as to improve the pace of their car in order to make their position
stronger in this year’s championship fight.
“It's all down to a huge amount of work, from a large number of people, with particular emphasis on aerodynamics, design and production,” Tombazis said. “It's been intense over the past few months resulting in a big improvement in car performance. We have
worked with determination to deal with all the negative points we picked up right from the first test in the winter.”
The Italian team is currently standing at fourth place in the constructors’ championship with 97 points. Moreover, they are 28 points ahead of Mercedes and 11 points behind Lotus.
