Ferrari copied Red Bull-style exhaust in 2012 Korean Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Ferrari copied Red Bull-style exhaust on their driver, Felipe Massa’s car in the 2012 Korean Grand Prix held at Korea International Circuit, according to the Spanish newspaper, 20 Minutos.
Massa performed amazingly well in the last race and secured an incredible 4th place finish behind his teammate, Fernando Alonso.
It will be important to mention that the Brazilian driver said that he could have secured even better result in the preceding race if his team had allowed him to overtake Alonso. Nevertheless, he said that he is not feeling upset over his result in the previous
race and is feeling very much pleased with the overall progress which his team has made.
On the other hand, Red Bull Racing team advisor, Helmut Marko also said that the Scarlet team should have allowed the 31-year-old to pass the Spaniard as he had a higher pace so that he could fight with their driver, Mark Webber for the second podium finish.
Later, it was reported that the Italian team used the exhaust design of the Milton Keynes based team in Massa’s car so as to improve its pace.
It is to be noted that Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull is now leading the drivers’ championship after scoring his third consecutive win in Korea and has a lead of 6 points over Alonso who had been at the top of the rankings for most of the time in the current
season until now.
Nevertheless, the team principal of Ferrari, Stefano Domenicali has said that they are not feeling disappointed and are positively looking forward to perform well in the remainder of the season to secure a competitive position in this year’s championship.
“It is clear that we must make a step forward in performance to respond to the one made by Red Bull,” Domenicali said. “We are well aware of that and we are working day and night to succeed.”
Besides, the two-time world champion also said that they are making the essential preparations to come up stronger in the forthcoming races.
“Hopefully we make a little bit of a step in terms of performance and then we can fight for bigger things,” Alonso, having finished third behind both Red Bulls, said before leaving Korea last Sunday.
