Ferrari dismissed speculation about signing James Key – Formula 1 news
Ferrari have dismissed all the speculations about signing the former technical director of Sauber, James Key for a post in the team.
The Briton, Key had been well-reputed technical director at Sauber and it was reported that the Italian team was eager to include Key into their technical staff.
“Ferrari have approached former Sauber technical director James Key about taking a role with the team, BBC Sport understands,” a comment in the BBC's F1 gossip column read. “It is not yet clear which position he was offered or whether he has accepted.”
Moreover, La Gazzetta dello Sport, an Italian newspaper also expressed that Ferrari were interested in taking the 40-years-old Briton in their team.
However, the Scarlet team have completely discharged all the rumours in this regard. Additionally, they also posted on twitter that it is baseless and not true at all.
It will be important to mention that they struggled during the pre-season testing programme while their technical director, Pat Fry ruled out the possibility of a podium finish in the season opener. Moreover, they said that they will face difficulties in
the first few races of the season.
Nevertheless, the Spaniard Fernando Alonso of Ferrari has shown many impressive performances in the season until now. He managed to secure fifth place finish in the first race held at Albert Park in Melbourne, Australia after he started the race from 12th place
in the grid.
Furthermore, he took an amazing victory in the second race at Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia in rainy conditions after starting the race from 8th position.
Contrarily, he struggled in the third race at Shanghai International Circuit in China where he qualified for ninth place in the grid and ended the race at the same position. Besides, he came seventh in the fourth race held at Bahrain International Circuit
in Sakhir.
On the other hand, Alonso’s teammate Felipe Massa is still struggling with his pace after the first four races of the season.
Presently, Ferrari are standing at fourth place in the constructors’ championship with 45 points ahead of Mercedes AMG Petronas. Over and above, they are trying their best to make the necessary developments so as to enhance the pace of F2012 in order to
fight for the championship title.
