Ferrari driver Felipe Massa not worried about his future – Formula 1 news
Ferrari driver Felipe Massa is not feeling worried about his future in Formula 1 as he believes that he can continue his career beyond the current season if he keeps on delivering good performances.
Massa secured an impressive fourth place finish in the British Grand Prix held at Silverstone Circuit after taking a start from fifth grid slot. Moreover, it will be important to mention that it was his best performance in the season so far.
Furthermore, his contract with Ferrari is going to end at the conclusion of this season and he has been surrounded by many speculations that the Scarlet team may replace him with Sergio Perez of Sauber after the current season.
Nevertheless, he has asserted that if he continues to score some reasonable points in the forthcoming races, he can secure his race seat with the Italian team.
“Of course I keep an eye on what is going on with other drivers, just as anyone likes to know what is going on in whatever work they do. But the only thing that is important for me is that I keep performing in the same way I did in Silverstone,” he said.
He added, “I'm sure that driving the way I am now is the only thing I can do and need to do to ensure my future. If I carry on performing the way I did in Silverstone, then I don't feel too worried about my future”.
Presently, he is at 13th position in the drivers’ championship with 23 points along with the seven-time world champion, Michael Schumacher of Mercedes. Besides, he is 2 points ahead of Kamui Kobayashi of Sauber and is 4 points behind Paul di Resta of Force India.
Even though, he struggled during the start of the season and could only score two points in the first five grands prix. Nonetheless, he has performed quite convincingly in the last race and is confidently looking forward to come up stronger in the upcoming race.
Let’s see how he performs in the German GP which is to be held at Hockenheimring on July 22.
