Ferrari driver Felipe Massa ‘optimistic’ about new parts for Silverstone Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Ferrari driver Felipe Massa has said that he is optimistic about the new parts that the team will deliver to their 150º Italia car at the British Grand Prix which is scheduled to be held on July 10, 2011 at the Silverstone circuit.
Massa is sure the new upgrades will bring some improvements in terms of performance at the Silverstone race weekend.
The Brazilian also said that if Pirelli pick up the hard compounds for the Silverstone race, then it will be difficult for him to make a good progress on them.
He added, “Well I am optimistic with the new parts we are going to try to bring to Silverstone.”
The team driver went on to mention, “However, I am not so optimistic with which tyres we are going to have there, because I have heard that maybe we are going to have medium and hard.”
Massa blamed Pirelli medium tyres for his disappointing result at the recently held European Grand Prix. He said that he was struggling for his podium finish since the start of the race. The tyres did not play a supportive role for him during the Valencia
Grand Prix.
Massa was 51 seconds slower than the race winner Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel and ended up at the fifth place for the team.
The teammate Fernando Alonso had a great time in Europe recently, where he finished his race in the second spot.
The team took a strong start in Valencia race weekend, as the drivers finished their Friday Practice sessions successfully on the grid. The qualifying round was good for them, but they made improvements in their performances during the race day.
There was a few seconds difference between Alonso and Vettel’s lap time. However, Ferrari were very happy with the positive performance of their driver.
After a good race weekend in Valencia, the team is planning to bring some new upgrades for upcoming British Grand Prix. Ferrari driver Massa is hopeful that the new updates in the 150º Italia car will give them upbeat results in the remainder of the 2011
Formula 1 season.
