<p><strong>Ferrari driver Felipe Massa regrets floor damage during 2011 British Grand Prix – Formula 1 news</strong></p>
<p>Ferrari driver Felipe Massa has said that the damaged floor of his car could have been the main reason for his decline in performance during the 2011 British Grand Prix at Silverstone.</p>
<p>The Brazilian driver finished in 5th place as a result after starting from 4th place on the grid. It was quite a disappointing overall run for him as his performance throughout the weekend was spot on.</p>
<p>Lewis Hamilton started from 10th place on the grid and took over Massa’s track position during the pit stop period which was again quite disappointing for the Ferrari driver.</p>
<p>“I think we have made a step forward this weekend in terms of performance, both in qualifying and the race. It's true my pace wasn't amazing today, but that could have had something to do with the fact my floor was damaged, after I hit something at Turn
6; maybe a part from another car,” said Massa.</p>
<p>Other than that, he added that the team could have also tried a different strategy for him as he claims that his second stop was a bit early. Nevertheless, his teammate Fernando Alonso won the first race of the season for Ferrari and proved that the team
can beat Red Bull Racing and McLaren as a result of which, the upcoming races are going to be quite positive for them.</p>
<p>“We have to continue to push on the development of the car: there are many races still ahead of us and having improved the car means we can feel more confident about the second half of the season,” said the Ferrari driver.</p>
<p>However, if Ferrari want to take on the championship this season, they would require equal performance from Massa as well. Even during the British Grand Prix, it was quite disappointing for the team to see the Brazilian close in on Hamilton during the last
couple of laps and still not overtake him.</p>
<p>It was a very interesting battle between the two drivers and even though it was more like a ‘photo finish,’ Ferrari were still expecting more from Felipe this weekend.</p>
