Ferrari driver Felipe Massa says he is calm about his future – Formula 1 news
Ferrari driver Felipe Massa has said that he is not concerned about losing his race seat at his current team at the end of the 2013 Formula 1 season and is focussing to perform well in the forthcoming races.
Massa was surrounded by huge speculations that some other driver might replace him at the end of 2012 as his performance was very poor during the start of the season. Nevertheless, he performed incredibly well towards the end of the preceding season and
managed to secure his race seat for this year.
The Brazilian driver has performed quite well in this season until now as compared to the last one. However, he has still not been able to secure his race seat for the next season and there are chances he may not be able to extend his contract for another
year.
Nonetheless, the 32-year-old has expressed that he is not feeling upset about his place in the Italian team and is positively looking forward to keep up the level of his performance in the approaching races.
“I am calm, I think it's important to have a good pace,” he told Brazil's TotalRace. “I'm feeling good in the car and have a good pace.”
In addition, he said that he is quite disappointed over his result in the Bahrain GP due to tyre management issue as a result of which he lost some crucial points in the championship fight. But, he asserted that he is happy with his car and targeting to
attain good points in the season ahead.
“I'm very upset about what happened in Bahrain, with the tyres and the hits I've had. That hurt my score, but I'm happy with the car I'm driving and that's what counts most,” he said.
“In my opinion, if you had a driver that was much better to get into my place, okay. But I think not,” the 11-time grand prix winner added.
Presently, he is standing at 7th place, behind Nico Rosberg of Mercedes, in the drivers’ championship with 49 points. It will be exciting to see how he performs in the upcoming races.
