Ferrari driver Felipe Massa says he is looking forward to points in Montreal – Formula 1 news
Ferrari’s Formula 1 driver Felipe Massa has stated that he is looking forward to the Canadian Grand Prix of the 2011 Formula 1 season as a point scoring opportunity.
Massa also stated that he has now put behind the Monaco Grand Prix and the incident with McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton which ruined his race after the Brit apologised.
Massa has been unable to finish the last two races of Spain and Monaco, former of which was interrupted by Hamilton.
However, Massa believes that Monaco is past and Hamilton’s incident is history as well.
The Brazilian said, “I couldn't finish the race, I couldn't score points and that is already what has happened to me, but now we look forward - and I hope he understands everything that happened in the race. I don't think it is what he is doing wrong; it
is what he did wrong in the last race.”
After the race in Monaco, Massa was furious at Hamilton and said that the Brit should be penalised for his wrong driving in Monaco which ruined the race of more than one driver.
However, talking about the incident Massa said, “Everything I said it was what I think, but he called me, and he said sorry. The most important thing is that he understood what he did, and this is fine. We now look forward.”
Massa is currently eighth on the drivers’ championship table with 24 points which could have been better if he had finished the last two races.
The Brazilian is way behind his teammate Fernando Alonso in the championship table as the Spaniard is fifth on the table with 69 points.
Massa is struggling to get a hold of his Ferrari and is failing to deal with the lower-ranked drivers. He is falling behind the top ten players constantly.
Nevertheless, the seventh race of the 2011 Formula 1 season is about to be contested on June 12, 2011 in Montreal. It will be interesting to see how Massa drives his way on the semi-street circuit of Canada.
