Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso: I am very excited to be in India – Formula 1 news
Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso has said that he is very excited to be in India for the 17th round of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
Alonso added that the team just needs to be honest with themselves for the rest of the ongoing season.
The Spaniard also mentioned that the Maranello-based outfit needs to work a lot better and more than they did this year if they really want improvements for the 2012 season.
Despite their below par results in the ongoing season at the moment, Ferrari are still aiming to do their best in the last three races.
Alonso commented, “With both championships decided, all teams are now thinking of 2012, not just us. So we will tackle the remaining races in this spirit, trying to enjoy them, by doing things you maybe cannot do if you are fighting for a championship.”
Apart from that, he discussed the Buddh International Circuit and stated that a new circuit is a new challenge from a driver’s point of view and therefore, he is excited about the race, which will take place on Sunday, October 30.
He went on to mention, “This circuit looks very interesting, especially the last sector, which is very different and quick, allowing for good flowing speed to be used. Normally, with a new track, we find the real thing is better than the simulator. I hope
we get a good first impression in tomorrow's practice.”
The 30-year-old driver was not able to finish his 2011 Korean Grand Prix on the podium, as his rivals were faster as compared to him. After starting the race from the sixth position on the opening grid, he came on the fifth place in the final Grand Prix
classifications.
His teammate Felipe Massa ended up in the sixth spot behind Alonso in the Korean race weekend.
After taking part in the 16 rounds of the 2011 Formula 1 season, Alonso is placed at the third place with 212 points in the drivers’ championship,
Let’s see how Alonso manages his race at the recently unveiled Buddh International Circuit on Sunday.
