Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso ignores critics – Formula 1 news
Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso has said that he is not paying attention to his critics in the media and asserted that some downbeat remarks are just part of the game.
Alonso remained unconcerned after he was called as pantomime villain by a British magazine, Top Gear after a difficult year with Lewis Hamilton in McLaren back in 2007.
Moreover, he insisted that he doesn’t care about the negative stories and said that such criticism just come into the way which should not be taken into account. In addition, he said that when a driver competes with his rival from another country, the critics
are expected to emerge.
Besides, he said that he got a lot of criticism from the Germans after he had a competitive fight with the seven-time world champion, Michael Schumacher of Mercedes and the defending champion, Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing.
“I don't care,” he said. “It's normal. When you're fighting other drivers from that country, it's normal that this sort of thing would happen. It happened in Germany, too. Everything was fine until I was competitive and fighting Michael. Then Germans were
fine again until Vettel arrived, and now I'm bad guy again.”
Furthermore, he said that he has kept his personal and professional life separately while he said that the critical comments which he receives are for the F1 driver. Over and above, he said that his life as a driver will end soon and he as a person will
remain there for the rest of his life.
“It is always about Alonso the driver. Never Fernando the person. Because they don't know me. I know that Alonso driver exists in kind of fake world. Alonso the driver will be there for 12 or 14 or whatever years. Fernando the person is for rest of my life,”
he added.
At present, the Spaniard is leading the drivers’ championship with 164 points and has a strong lead over Red Bull pair of drivers, Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel.
Let’s see how the two-time world champion performs in the remaining nine grands prix after the ongoing mid-season break.
