Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso says winning the race depends on car – Formula 1 news
Ferrari’s Formula 1 driver Fernando Alonso has said that winning the race depends on the car.
He added that if the car plays a supportive role for the driver, then he can make a lot of improvements in his performance during the race.
Alonso admitted that winning the 2011 title is logically impossible for him with the F150º Italia. In addition, he added that he was unable to take a strong start to this season due to the unsupportive role of his car.
The two-time world champion told the media that if Ferrari provide him a perfect and faster car, he can fight for this season’s world championship. In addition, he said there are many races in the 2011 season which are enough for them to come back on the
grid.
He added, “Therefore, right now, we are awaiting an important improvement to the car. If it arrives in the next few races we will be on fighting terms, but if everything continues to be the same, logically this is impossible. Miracles cannot be done.”
The 29-year-old driver took a strong start to the European Grand Prix recently and managed his race in the second place on the podium. The team driver had a very close fight with Red Bull drivers Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber in the closing laps of the
Valencia race. After making a lot of struggle during the ending laps, he finished his race at the second place for the team.
Alonso’s race result at the Valencia Street Circuit was very impressive for Ferrari, as he put all of his efforts in the race.
The Spaniard discussed about the upcoming British Grand Prix and said, “Therefore in Silverstone if we manage to be at the front, it means we have a very competitive car for what remains of the year, but if we are still so far behind, it will be difficult,
and we will have to fight for partial Grands Prix victories: podiums, fastest laps and those types of more secondary things.”
Ferrari are planning to bring some changes in their car for the upcoming British Grand Prix, which will be held at the Silverstone race circuit on July 10, 2011.
Let’s see how Alonso manages his race over there following his strong European Grand Prix.
