Ferrari expected to have another struggling race at 2012 Malaysian Grand Prix – Formula 1
Ferrari is expected to have another struggling race at 2012 Malaysian Grand Prix to be held at Sepang International Circuit this weekend.
The Scarlet team had been facing difficulties in its car F2012 during this year’s pre-season tests held at Jerez and Barcelona circuits.
Moreover, there had been a lot of statements coming from the members of the Red team regarding their stance in this season’s champion. On one hand, the technical director, Pat Fry said that they could not be able to fight for a podium finish at the season
opener, on the other hand, the Spaniard, Fernando Alonso said that they would struggle in the first few races of the season.
Nevertheless, Alonso expressed that they were prepared for the first race, afterwards. Moreover, he said that he felt relieved after securing the fifth position in the first race after starting from the 12th place in the grid, following Mark Webber of Red
Bull Racing.
Furthermore, Fry said that they were preparing for one more difficult race at Sepang. However, he was quite confident for the races ahead of second race.
“We are behind when compared to the best, even if not as much as could be seen yesterday,” he said. “We must work very hard, that's for sure. Next week in Malaysia, we will have another difficult race: we must try and adapt as well as possible to the characteristics
of the Sepang circuit.”
Furthermore, Felipe Massa will reach in the second GP with a new chassis after his poor performance at Albert Park on Sunday.
Ferrari team principal, Stefano Domenicali had expressed that he knew their car needed improvements in order to enhance its performance level for the next races. He also said that they were aware of the areas which required the step ups while he said that
they would take the best out of them to make the essential developments and the necessary preparations for the season ahead.
“We know we must raise the performance level of our car: from what we have seen here in Australia, there are several teams not so far off one another and one does not need to make enormous progress to make up several places,” he said.
Besides, Domenicali felt delighted with the performance of Alonso in the first GP which was an encouraging outcome for the team while he said that Massa faced problems due to the car’s poor balancing.
The Scarlet team has been the oldest and the most successful team in Formula 1. Since its inception, it has won 16 world championships with many legendary drivers. In this season, the team had been seen struggling right from the winter.
Nonetheless, they are competent enough to challenge any top contender in the season ahead even after another difficult race this weekend.
