Ferrari expecting strong performance at the German Grand Prix - Formula 1 news
Ferrari have said that they are confident of putting up a fighting battle at the front of the field at the coming German Grand Prix.
Fernando Alonso is the leading driver of the current season and both him and the team will be hoping that he can go ahead and extend his lead even further at Hockenheim.
Ferrari was a late bloomer in the season as the team suffered issues with the car's balance and pace. Yet the team has been able to sustain success through sheer brilliance of the Spaniard who managed to get a Grand Prix win even with the much lacking Ferrari.
The team has now updated the car and improved the performance of the car. The improvements in the F2012 are also reflected from Felipe Massa’s rejuvenated form as well. The Brazilian had been struggling for the most part of the season but has found some
form in the last couple of races and is showing good promise for the races to come.
His form could not have come at a better time, as Ferrari is looking to give the currently leading team of the season Red Bull some tough challenge for the constructors’ title.
“At the start of the season it would have required one to be extremely optimistic to imagine such a situation,” team engineer Andrea Stella explained. “But in this sport, things can change very quickly and we have always maintained a positive attitude. The
current situation is the result of this attitude combined with a lot of hard work.”
“You always want to get more and more top speed as it brings benefits in terms of reducing the lap time and it makes life easier during the race,” he said.
Alonso is leading with 13 points from the second placed Mark Webber. Webber has also looked in fine form recently and will be looking to trim down that lead at Hockenheim and Budapest.
Ferrari has struggled with pace in the season but has been able to make up for it in down-force but they will need to improve their straight line pace if they are to remain on top in the season. It will be interesting to see how the team fares at both the
races.
