Ferrari feel contended after Friday practice of 2012 Korean Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso has said that they are feeling contended with their overall performance in the free Friday practice of the 2012 Korean Grand Prix.
Alonso showed an impressive pace in both the practice sessions and seemed very comfortable behind the wheel of his car. He said that even though their pace was very good but they didn’t focus on it very much as they remained busy in testing the new update package of the car.
Furthermore, he said that they faced issue in finding the necessary grip on the track during the morning session as it was dusty. Nonetheless, he said that they are hoping to see improvements in the track conditions in the final practice session.
Besides, he said that they are positively looking forward to perform well in the qualifying so as to be able to secure a higher grid slot for the race ahead in order to attain competitive results.
“The track improved a great deal from one session to the next: it's a phenomenon that's particularly accentuated here, because there's hardly any racing on this track and this morning, it was particularly dirty,” Alonso said. “Let's hope situation improves for tomorrow because it's always more fun driving when track offers at least some grip.”
In addition, he said that the third sector of the circuit is quite difficult as compared to the first two sectors.
“The most demanding part of this circuit is definitely third sector, the shortest in terms of time, made up almost entirely of corners. The set-up choices are dictated mainly by car behaviour in this third sector, while other two are definitely easier to deal with,” he added.
On the other hand, the technical director of the Scarlet team, Pat Fry said that everything went according to their plan and they collected some essential information about their car’s upgrades which will surely help in making further advancements.
Additionally, he said that they are not going to change their development process in the remainder of the season and will try their best to maximise their potential to make their mark stronger in the championship fight.
