Ferrari finally finds a solution for its DRS problem
Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso has recently revealed that he is confident that he is going to have a decent and smooth run at the Chinese Grand prix, as the team has come up with a solution for its problematic Drag Reduction System (DRS)
Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton battled it out for 3rd position during the Malaysian Grand Prix, this past weekend but the Spaniard was unable to close in on the 2008 Formula 1 world champion, as the DRS on his car was not working. Forcing
him to go for a risky overtaking manoeuvre, which caused a collision between the two drivers’ respective cars, and earned Fernando a 20 second post race penalty.
“In Malaysia, we had a problem from the middle of the race. We discovered the problem so everything should be okay for this race. It was a hydraulic connector, it should be okay, all fixed”, Fernando told the media.
Both of the drivers were forced to pit, as a result of which, Alonso finished in 6th place while Lewis Hamilton scored 7th place, which dropped to 8th place later on, due to a post race penalty.
However, the Spaniard agreed that due to these fundamental problems with their car, the team is lacking pace as compared to the top running teams, namely Red Bull Racing Team, and, McLaren, as a result of which solving these problems is becoming an even
bigger problem.
“We are not quick enough... we know we need to work to improve the car. There are no secrets in Formula One, aerodynamics are still the main thing for performance. If we are some gap behind the leaders, it is because we need to improve aerodynamically mainly.
We will try to do it as soon as possible”, said Fernando.
He added that it is about time that the team starts to score some podium positions and settles its car in order to challenge for the podiums at the coming races as well in order to cover some ground Ferrari has lost in terms of points as well.
