Ferrari gearing up for the German Grand Prix 2010
The Ferrari team was extremely disappointed after their poor show at Silverstone last weekend. Though the race had not gone very well for them, yet Team Principal Stefano Domenicali was hopeful as they move towards the next race of the season to be held on 24th of July in Germany.
The team started off the season nicely however their pace kept falling as the season went on. The last few races had been particularly poor for them as they had hardly been able to score a paltry nineteen points in the last three races. Currently, the team stands at the third spot in the Constructors’ Standings and are trailing behind McLaren and Red Bull - the two most competitive teams of the season.
The team was simply unlucky at the British Grand Prix as they were unable to secure a single point at the race despite the fact that they had an upgraded version of their F10 for the race. The driver Fernando Alonso had a problematic start in England and later received a drive-through penalty. Felipe Massa on the other hand had a tyre issue which left him distressed at the race. The twosome finished the race at the fourteenth and fifteenth places respectively which lead to the team falling 113 points behind the chart toper team, McLaren.
Domenicali, as the team prepares for the next round of the season talked to the Formula One official website where he clarified that he has asked the team to stay positive and do not lose spirit as half the season is yet to go. He admitted to the fact that he team had not been able to produce the results that it was capable of at the last Grand Prix but he said that some days are simply unlucky and last Sunday was one of them. The Team Principle further added that this does not mean that they have lost hope or are heartbroken; instead they learned some good lessons and are ready to move ahead with more confidence and optimism.
He further briefed that the team is working hard with their car and are trying their best to bring the maximum possible improvements. He demonstrated that the factory is calmly concentrating for the development of Ferrari’s new car as the drivers are putting in their best efforts to improve their racing in the next event. He said that he is quite hopeful that the desired results would be produced soon.
At the same time, Ferrari President, Luca Di Montezemolo encouraged the team to leave all their previous problems behind and move on with full zeal and zest rather than being pulled down as they move towards the next destination of the Formula One caravan.
He was satisfied to add that the team had sailed past from worse situations in the past but had been able to rise back with full force and passion, which he expects to see once again. However, Luca clearly stressed the point that the team could not afford to lose any opportunities and needs to concentrate and focus on all aspects of the next race.
The way the last few races have unfolded in the 2010 season, the qualifying session has actually become the decisive part of the race. Very few drivers have been able to do good after a poor qualifying. Therefore the Ferrari team boss said that the team is redesigning its strategy to have a better qualifying as well as a strong start in the upcoming race in Germany so that it would be able to bag some good points in the Constructor’s standings.
