Ferrari hoping for a win in last three rounds of 2011 Formula 1 season – Formula 1 news
Ferrari team principal Stefano Domenicali believes that his team can still win another race in the last three rounds of the 2011 Formula 1 season, despite their fierce competition with Red Bull Racing and McLaren in recently held Korean Grand Prix.
He said, “Now we must try and bring our season to a close in the best possible way, because we firmly believe we should still be able to take at least one more race win. It will be extremely difficult, given how our rivals are doing, but we will definitely be trying.”
The Italian-based team lies in the third spot on the 2011 constructors’ championship after Red Bull Racing team sealed 2011 year’s title at the Korean Grand Prix, on October 16 at the Korea International Circuit.
The team’s veteran driver, Fernando Alonso finished off the race at the fifth position, while his Brazilian team-mate Felipe Massa followed him at sixth position off the pace of Red Bull Racing and McLaren drivers.
Domenicali mentioned that he is sure his squad is still capable of clinching a win from the three races that remain before the ongoing season comes to an end. In addition, he stated that at the moment his team needs to improve their qualifying position for the remainder of the season.
On the other hand, the team’s technical director Pat Fry stated about the rest of the season.
“This Sunday is a mirror image of Saturday, with an identical result,” he said. “We certainly can't be surprised by it: we are well aware that if we qualify on the third row, it becomes difficult to fight for the very top places, unless something happens to those who start ahead of you and everything goes perfectly.”
The next race is scheduled to be held at the newly constructed Buddh International Circuit, on October 30, 2011. The team will surely put up their best show in the next race weekend, despite Red Bulls’ and McLaren-Mercedes’ spell of dominance this season.
Let's see how the team performs at the 2011 Indian Grand Prix.
