Ferrari keeping up with their Christmas traditions – Formula 1 news
Scuderia Ferrari kept up with its Christmas tradition as the Ferrari president, Luca di Montezemolo, attended dinner at the Maranello factory with Italian and International press and exchanged greetings and a review of the team’s 2012 F1 season.
Montezemolo began by stating that besides his family, Ferrari was also one of the most important things in his life.
“I am lucky to come here to Maranello, feeling in a good mood, with many ideas and many things to do, some of which are already in hand,” Montezemolo said. “If I look back at the past ten years, I see that we have almost doubled our presence in the world,
going from 34 to 60 markets. Our turnover has always grown, with the exception of 2009: it’s a bit like Formula 1, where in the last sixteen years, we have only failed to win the title, or been in the fight for it, at the last race on three occasions.”
The meeting has been held each year ahead of Christmas for the last ten years. Tables are arranged around the particular season’s F1 car which was the F2012 this year. Traditional Emiliano food is served to everyone that includes the tortellini in a soup
made of capons, pig’s trotters and lentils.
Montezemolo talked about the Italian brand’s progress saying that they have earned 52 million Euros, coming from the stores, retail, licensing and e-commerce. He added that they have also developed their presence over the internet where they are now able
communicate in seven different languages.
The president also reviewed the 2012 F1 season saying that the year could be looked at both ways; glass half full and half empty. He confessed that their biggest disappointment of the season was the car which was not quick enough and failed to support Fernando
Alonso who had come so near to winning the F1 championship.
On the other hand, he admitted he was happy with the car’s reliability as it helped them secure the second position in the constructors’ championship and proud of Alonso who has had the best F1 season of his career so far.
