Ferrari look to keep winning momentum ahead of Chinese Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Fernando Alonso has shown once again what he is capable of when he is behind the wheel.
The Ferrari drivers drove with skill, determination and never say never approach as he won the Malaysian Grand Prix on a rain hit race day. It might not have been considered such a big win if Ferrari were not so much under pressure.
The new F2012 has been so far a great disappointment as the engineers have been so far unable to make as fast or as reliable as they would have liked. Such was the disappointment that after the three pre-season tests Ferrari’s technical director Pat Fry
said that the car might struggle to pole positions.
Ferrari President Luca di Montezemolo hoped that it would not be the case, as he has been very vocal about the team’s performance in 2011 and requested the team to pick up its game to improve in 2012.
If the car issues were not enough Felipe Massa is another worry for the team as he continues to have that dip in his form and fails to live up to his potential.
Massa had to retire in both the races of the season so far. During the Malaysian Grand Prix, the Brazilian got into an accident with Williams driver Bruno Senna and the collision ended both the drivers race.
Massa has been defending his position, but was clearly short of excuses after the Malaysian Grand Prix. Ferrari though have come in support of their driver and have said that they full back him.
The support was crucial as speculations of removing Massa have grown and after Perez who is also a member of the Ferrari academy drove so well and showed so much promise the news have grown of him replacing Massa. Both Perez and Ferrari have denied any such
moves.
It will be interesting to see how Ferrari deals with their woes in China. The camp will take some hope of improvement after the Malaysian Grand Prix performance. One more thing that will be playing in the minds of the management is that there is a test run
scheduled after the Chinese Grand Prix.
