Ferrari looking to improve further in Germany – Formula 1 news
Ferrari are looking to improve going into the Hockenheim Grand Prix.
The team was suffering from serious technical woes ever as the car lacked straight line pace and had balance issued. The win at the Malaysian Grand Prix gave the team hope of a better season performance despite the below par car but Fernando Alonso was able
to come up with some consistent performances that allowed the team to hope for a better standing the season.
After the Mugello test, Ferrari introduced an update package that drastically improved the cars performance. The Spaniard has been able to become the first driver to get two Grand Prix wins in the season. He is now the leading driver in the Drivers’ Championship
and looking to increase his lead over other drivers in the coming races.
Alonso’s teammate Felipe Massa has not been in poor form since the start of the season and had been struggling to shrug his bad patch off, but recently he has been able to show some promise. The Brazilian finished fourth at the British Grand Prix and is
hoping to keep the momentum in the coming races.
Team president Luca di Montezemolo has been very involved in the team’s performance for 2012. He was anticipating a much improved season after the disappointing 2011 campaign. Though the team struggled in the earlier stage s of the season but it has managed
to come up with good performances in the recent races and is now challenging Red Bull the leader of Constructors’ Championship at the moment for the top position.
It will be interesting to see how Ferrari will perform at Hockenheim and Budapest the two Grands Prix coming. It will be crucial for the team to make sure that Alonso finishes ahead of Mark Webber in order to maintain his lead in the season.
The trick to perform at the Hockenheim GP will be to get ahead initially and maintain the lead as the track is really fast with long straights but the sudden slow corners might pose a tricky situation for most drivers. The track is well suited for DRS zones
and KERS it is expected that there will be only one DRS zone in the race.
