Ferrari looking to make improvements in Q3 in second half of 2011 season – Formula 1 news
Ferrari are looking to make improvements in qualifying rounds 3 in the second part of the 2011 Formula 1 season which begins in the last week of August with the Belgian Grand Prix.
Ferrari principal Stefano Domenicali has said that they have been unable to make progress during Q3 in the season so far and therefore, they need to make improvements in it.
He added that the team’s race results are satisfactory for them from the last few races of the ongoing season, but they are still unable to get much from the Q3.
Domenicali talked to the media and stated that the Ferrari car is quite strong at the moment, so the drivers must focus on their Qualifiers run for the rest of the season.
Talking to reporters, the Ferrari principal said, “I think that we have now a situation where from the performance in the race we are all there. This weekend, in terms of the absolute result, there were a lot of things that could have changed the outcome,
but in terms of performance - in qualifying, we have to improve Q3 because there is something that is still not there.”
He admitted that the race pace of the team was not bad at all at the Hungarian Grand Prix. In addition, he said that the team driver Fernando Alonso was only a driver who is scoring points from the last few races from any difficult condition.
After a successful race weekend, the Ferrari principal said that they are still busy working on their car and making it competitive for the next race weekends of the ongoing season.
Apart from that, he discussed the performance of Alonso’s teammate Felipe Massa in the Hungarian Grand Prix.
Domenicali went on to mention, “He lost part of the lateral rear plate, and I was just discussing with my engineers because Felipe set his fastest lap time like that.”
He also mentioned that he knows winning the 2011 championship is still difficult for them, but they will try to win the next couple of races of this season.
Let’s see how Ferrari perform in the second part of the season after the summer break.
